Gaming Habits

This article describes the basic results from our telephone survey of internet and PC (personal computer) gaming habits. The survey was conducted in February 2004.  Based on the telephone survey conducted, 680 of the 1,000 surveyed played internet games within that period while 250 people played a PC game during the same period. The survey was conducted in ten European Capitals.  

Results

Playing time (Internet games)

  • 54% play from 0-12 hours online every day
  • 6 % play more than 30 hours a week
  • 90% state that they play too much online
  • 33% usually play too much or always too much
  • It seems that online games are even more engaging and fascinating than traditional computer games.

    Playing time (PC games)
  • Only 25 % played a computer game during the one-month period
  • 30% of those who played a PC game during the one-month period played a PC game daily.
  • All PC players spent no more than 5 hours a day playing PC games
  • 15% of those questioned played  computer games daily
  • Less than 10% did not play every month
