Parthenon Marbles
 Parthenon Frieze
Pericles built the Parthenon on top of a hill called the Acropolis. The Parthenon was a temple for the goddess Athena. Inside the temple was a beautiful statue of Athena. The Athenians also decorated the temple outside with beautiful sculptures. The Parthenon Marbles were part of these sculptures. They decorated the sides of the roof. This was the frieze. Many people think that this frieze is one of the most wonderful works of art in the world.
